Today, Nzamurambaho is a changed person, and he is using his story to inspire other young people to do the same.

The young people who attended the camp were urged to be mindful of the dangers of substance abuse and banana liquor. Nzamurambaho emphasized that it is possible to overcome these bad habits and that it is essential to do so to become a better person. He also highlighted that transformation is a personal journey and that one must be willing to make a change.

On September 19, 2026, Rwanda held a special youth day, which was organized in collaboration with the SoberGeneration initiative. The initiative aims to encourage young people to participate in development activities and shun substance abuse and other bad habits. During the event, young people engaged in various activities, including cleaning up water catchment areas and building schools.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana, who attended the event in Karongi district, revealed that before the launch of the campaign against banana liquor, there were over 20 million liters of the drink in the country. He urged young people to focus on their development and shun bad habits.

The Commissioner General of the Rwanda Police, Felix Namuhoranye, also attended the event and urged young people to avoid substance abuse and banana liquor. He noted that crimes related to substance abuse have been decreasing, and he attributed this to the efforts of the government and other stakeholders to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse.

Nzamurambaho is now a farmer and works closely with local authorities. He is using his story to inspire other young people to focus on their development and shun bad habits. His story is a testament to the fact that transformation is possible, and that with determination and hard work, anyone can turn their life around.
