He also mentioned that he is part of a savings group and receives financial assistance.
Another elderly individual expressed appreciation for the President's initiative to provide support to older persons. He mentioned that he was struggling after losing his cow, but the government's support has enabled him to continue his daily activities. The elderly individuals also appreciated the provision of cows, solar-powered lamps, and mattresses during the event.
According to the government, Rwanda has a significant number of older persons, with over 927,000 individuals aged 60 and above, accounting for 6.4% of the total population. The government has implemented various initiatives to support older persons, including providing financial assistance, healthcare, and social services.
Minister Uwimana emphasized the importance of parents teaching their children the values of respect, hard work, and patriotism. She encouraged parents to take their responsibilities seriously and to instill in their children the cultural values of Rwandan society.
