Comfort My People International, a Christian non-profit organization, has marked 20 years of operation in Rwanda. Established in 2006, the organization has been providing assistance to vulnerable populations, including those affected by the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. On October 2, 2026, the organization celebrated this milestone in Remera, Kigali, with an event attended by its employees, local residents, and officials.

The organization's founder, Pastor Willy Rumenera, revealed that Comfort My People has assisted over 200 families and provided medical insurance to thousands of people. He expressed gratitude for the organization's accomplishments, stating that many lives have been transformed through their efforts. The organization has also established the Teen Challenge Rwanda program to help individuals recover from addiction.

One of the beneficiaries, Justine Nishimwe, shared her testimony of how Comfort My People supported her education from primary school to university. She expressed her gratitude for the organization's continuous support and guidance throughout her academic journey. Another beneficiary, Dancille Mukandori, a survivor of the Genocide against the Tutsi, revealed that Comfort My People built her a house when she was struggling to find shelter.

Niyigena Celestin, a resident of Nyamagabe, shared his story of transformation after struggling with addiction and crime. He credited Comfort My People for providing him with the support and guidance needed to turn his life around. He is now a changed person, having accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Ndaruhutse Jean de Dieu, the Executive Secretary of Jarama, praised Comfort My People for its role in transforming the lives of residents in the area. He noted that the organization has contributed significantly to the fight against addiction, provided medical insurance, and promoted youth development through sports.

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Pastor Walt and his wife Britt from the United States. They prayed for Pastor Willy Rumenera and the organization, wishing them continued growth and impact. The organization has made a significant impact in Rwanda, and its 20-year milestone is a testament to its dedication to serving the community.
