Rwanda and Israel have agreed to continue strengthening their partnership in developing creative industries based on technology. This agreement was reached on November 5, 2026, during the closing of a week dedicated to promoting creative industries and technology. The goal is to empower artists, help them create jobs, and generate income from their creative works.

During this week-long event, eight Rwandan artists and companies received training aimed at enhancing their knowledge in innovation, job creation using technology, and understanding opportunities in technology-based creative industries, also known as Creative Industries. After the training, participants showcased their projects, explaining their role in societal development and the growth of the art sector.

Three projects stood out and received funding, with the first project receiving $5,000, the second $3,000, and the third $2,000. Veda Muvunyi from Kigali expressed her joy at having her music-related project selected, emphasizing that the funding will help her expand and increase her activities. She noted that the funds will enable her and many Rwandan artists to earn income from their creative works.

Parfait Ishungure, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Arts, stated that this partnership demonstrates that Rwanda-Israel relations go beyond diplomacy to include sectors like arts and technology. He explained that the trained artists and industry professionals will use the acquired skills and funding to enhance their capacities, develop the sector, and promote artists.

Ishungure emphasized that as a country, Rwanda aims to provide opportunities for its youth, especially content creators, to have jobs and contribute to national development. He highlighted that this partnership will enable Rwandan artists to benefit from technology in creating and marketing their works, thereby increasing their productivity.

Israeli Ambassador to Rwanda, Einat Weiss, stated that her country will continue to support Rwandan youth in developing their talents and expanding their projects. She praised Rwanda's youthful population and potential, noting that those who achieve their goals will serve as role models for others.

The Ministry of Youth and Arts, in collaboration with the Ministry of Technology and Innovation, the ICT Chamber, and the Israeli Embassy in Rwanda, will continue to support initiatives that enhance the skills of artists and creative industry professionals. This partnership aims to help them improve their work, utilize technology in creation and marketing, and generate income from their creative endeavors.
