Kenyan President William Ruto is set to begin a development tour of the Coast region on Saturday, visiting six counties and issuing nearly 200,000 title deeds to residents. On Saturday, Ruto will start his tour in Taita-Taveta County, where he will issue 31,318 title deeds to residents of Mwatate and Voi constituencies. The following day, he will travel to Kwale County to issue 94,175 title deeds to beneficiaries in Lunga Lunga, Msambweni, and Kinango constituencies. This initiative is part of the government's plan to distribute 500,000 land ownership documents to communities in the Coast region.
In Kilifi County, Ruto will issue 36,826 title deeds to residents of Kaloleni, Rabai, Ganze, Kilifi South, and Malindi constituencies. Additionally, 4,360 title deeds will be issued in Mombasa County, while 22,770 title deeds will be distributed in Lamu and Tana River counties. These documents will provide beneficiaries with formal ownership, enabling them to utilize their land for economic development activities.
During his working tour, Ruto will also commission completed development projects, inspect ongoing ones, and launch new projects across the six counties. This will provide an opportunity for the President to engage with local leaders and residents, understanding their development needs and priorities.
One of the key projects to be launched during Ruto's tour is the $16 billion East Africa Refinery in Lamu, a joint venture between the Kenyan government and Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote. The refinery, expected to process crude from Lokichar, Turkana County, will supply refined petroleum products to markets across East and Central Africa.
