The Commissioner of Rumbek North County, Buoi Mayek, has announced that the county has achieved full stabilization in terms of security. He attributes this progress to the security measures implemented by the caretaker Governor of Lakes State, Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor. Mayek made these remarks during a press statement before departing for Rumbek North County headquarters.

Commissioner Mayek issued a stern warning to civilians, particularly members of the Pakam community, against carrying small arms on highways and ring roads. He emphasized that security measures would be taken without hesitation against those who fail to comply with this directive. The commissioner's statement highlights the government's commitment to maintaining peace and order in the region.

The state government has been prioritizing the protection of community members and their property on a daily basis. Commissioner Mayek stressed that peace and unity remained compulsory among the conflicting sections of the Pakam community. He urged the community to remain vigilant and promote peaceful coexistence with neighboring communities, particularly those in Unity and Warrap states.

The Pakam community has been working to address various security concerns, including road ambushes, cattle theft, and revenge killings. Commissioner Mayek called on the community to become ambassadors of peace with neighboring counties, including Cueibet, Rumbek Centre, and Tonj East. He emphasized the importance of inter-community relationships, citing the numerous intermarriages between the communities.

On cattle theft, Commissioner Mayek provided guidance on handling suspects apprehended in connection with such crimes. He stated that suspects should be handed over to the authorities in the county where the alleged offense was committed. Mayek cited an example of youths from Rumbek North suspected of involvement in cattle theft in Unity State, emphasizing that they should be arrested and dealt with by the relevant authorities.

Commissioner Mayek also urged residents of Rumbek North to take their cases, including those handled through traditional courts, to Maper rather than resolving their disputes in Rumbek town. He described the latter practice as unbecoming and encouraged community awareness and mobilization ahead of the upcoming general elections scheduled for December 22.

The commissioner encouraged residents to participate equally in the electoral process and choose their leaders wisely and peacefully. He emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and urged the community to work together to maintain stability in the region. The commissioner's statement reflects the government's efforts to promote peace and security in Rumbek North County.
