The Restorative Seed Society (RSS) and the Ghana Library Authority have partnered to introduce a mobile library initiative at Asorogobise Junior High School. This project aims to improve students' access to books and encourage reading. The initiative was launched on September 30, 2026, and is expected to benefit students who previously had limited access to reading materials.
The headmistress of Asorogobise JHS, Celestina Akanlise, highlighted that limited access to books had been a significant challenge for students. Some students struggled to develop their reading skills due to this limitation. The introduction of the mobile library will provide students with greater access to reading materials without having to travel elsewhere to use a library.
According to Madam Akanlise, the initiative is particularly significant because some students had not previously had the opportunity to see or use a physical library. She expressed gratitude to the Restorative Seed Society and the Ghana Library Authority for extending the initiative to the school. She also commended teachers who volunteered to participate in the launch despite the ongoing industrial action by teachers.
Assembly Member for the area, Bawa Atule, welcomed the initiative and emphasized that improved access to books could contribute to the educational development of children in the community. However, he called for stronger communication between organizations implementing projects and local stakeholders. He suggested that communities, schools, and their representatives should receive adequate information when organizations enter communities to implement projects.
Mr. Atule pledged to continue advocating for development in the area and encouraged young people, women's groups, and opinion leaders to participate in community development initiatives. The PTA Chairman of Asorogobise JHS, Samuel Amalga, urged students to make regular use of the books provided through the initiative. He emphasized the importance of reading and understanding English across different subjects.
Mr. Amalga encouraged students to develop consistent reading habits, stating that "reading and understanding are inseparable." He appealed for continued support from civil society organizations and other partners, expressing the desire of parents and community leaders to see children in the area progress through the different levels of education.
