The Rotary Club of Agege has installed Rotarian Abiola Ogundeji as its 43rd President for the 2026/2027 Rotary year. Ogundeji, a multimedia and broadcast technology consultant, was inducted by the District Governor, Rotary International District 9111, Nigeria, Mrs. Bukola Olabisi Bakare, at a well-attended investiture and fundraising ceremony in Lagos. The club secured over N750 million in commitments for humanitarian projects, which will focus on educational and welfare initiatives, vocational and digital skills training, and land acquisition for its flagship project.
The secured funds will be used to establish a vocational and digital skills training centre, provide practical community projects, and support water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives. Ogundeji, who joined the Agege Club in 2021 and previously served as membership chair, outlined his priorities, which include membership growth and community projects. He aims to benefit at least 5,000 people directly through vocational skills development and expanded malaria interventions.
President-elect for 2027–2028 and Chairman of the Investiture Committee, Demola Igbalajobi, emphasized that the funds raised will be used to execute the proposed vocational and digital skills training centre and community projects. The DSE Foundation has pledged N690 million towards three initiatives, demonstrating confidence in Rotary's leadership and its capacity to deliver community interventions. Past Assistant Governor Bala Yesufu announced the pledge on behalf of the foundation's Chairman and Founder, Chief Tunde Fanimokun.
Rotary Club of Agege Past President, Rotarian Wale Adebiyi, also donated N10 million towards the projects. Ogundeji commended the club's fundraising efforts, particularly the proposed vocational centre, stating it aligns with the club's focus on sustainable community service. The new administration, under the theme 'Evolution', will build on the previous Rotary year, which recorded 15 per cent membership growth and chartered a new Interact Club.
Ogundeji outlined his leadership promise, which includes deepening the club's impact in Agege through practical projects, strengthening member engagement and growth, and upholding Rotary values of integrity, fellowship, and service above self. The club's objectives have garnered support from various stakeholders, including the Chairman of Agege Local Government Area, Hon. Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa, who welcomed the skills acquisition centre.
Obasa affirmed that the centre would support efforts to equip young people with skills and economic opportunities. The Rotary Club of Agege's flagship humanitarian project will focus on providing vocational training and community development initiatives.
