The Rotaract Club of Freetown-Sunset is embarking on a mission to raise funds to complete the construction of Lirem Secondary School in Pentagon, Lumley, Freetown. The project was initiated by former club president Alusine Conteh, who made significant progress on the construction before the club sought additional resources to bring the project to completion.
A fundraising dinner was recently hosted by the club to mobilize the remaining funds needed to complete the school. According to Anthea Brenda Forster, a member of the club's fundraising committee, the club is seeking more than Le200,000, with the majority of the funds expected to cover construction materials and technical expertise.
Club President Mukeh Rex Bhonapha appealed to attendees at the dinner to support the project, emphasizing the club's goal of providing children with a safe environment where they can learn and work towards achieving their dreams. Bhonapha urged attendees to help turn the unfinished structure into a place where children can learn, grow, and dream.
The fundraising event attracted support from several attendees, who made pledges in cash and construction materials. One attendee pledged 50 bags of cement towards the project. The club's efforts to complete the Lirem Secondary School project will further support children in the Pentagon community by providing them with a safer and more conducive environment for learning.
