A tragic incident occurred in Gombe on September 26, 2026, when armed robbers attacked the residence of Inspector Salisu Waziri, attached to the Safer Highway Patrol, at Wuro Shie Quarters. The robbers attempted to steal the mobile phone of Inspector Waziri's wife, Mrs Aishatu Salisu, who raised an alarm, leading to one of the suspects stabbing her with a machete. The victim was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Gombe, where she was certified dead.
The State Police Command confirmed the incident and reported that two suspects, Muhammad Bashir Sale, alias “Full”, aged 20, and Musa Sale Ahmad, alias “Abba”, aged 18, were arrested on September 26, 2026, in connection with the crime. Both suspects are residents of Wuro Shie Quarters, Gombe. During preliminary investigations, they confessed to their involvement in the crime, and a sharp knife was recovered as an exhibit.
According to the State Police Command's PPRO, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the incident occurred at about 0435hrs on September 26, 2026. The command commenced an investigation and intensified efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the crime. The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, directed a discreet and thorough investigation into the case to ensure that all persons found culpable are brought to justice.
The police reported that the victim, Mrs Aishatu Salisu, was stabbed by one of the suspects during the attempted robbery. The suspects fled the scene, leaving the mobile phone behind. The Pantami Divisional Patrol Team immediately mobilized to the scene and rushed the victim to the hospital. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The State Police Command assured members of the public that it remained committed to protecting lives and property and would continue to intensify efforts against criminal elements across the state. Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements, or activities to the nearest police formation.
