The Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has urged its staff to be ambassadors of integrity, protecting public resources and supporting the commission's constitutional mandate with honor. This was stated by RMAFC Chairman, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, at a 5-day sensitization and capacity-building workshop in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital. The workshop, organized by the Anti-Corruption and Transparent Unit (ACTU), aimed to educate staff on the evils of corruption and promote a sense of duty, responsibility, and accountability.

The chairman, represented by Federal Commissioner Mr. Ismaila Agaka, charged participants to uphold integrity, accountability, transparency, and due process in their official duties. He emphasized that Nigeria's current state is a result of how people handled public resources and that a complete change requires determination and commitment to the anti-corruption crusade. The workshop brought together staff from the five North Central states and the commission's headquarters in Abuja.

The RMAFC chairman added that participants will apply the lessons learned to demonstrate integrity and accountability in their public and private conduct for the nation's benefit. He commended participants for their active involvement, discipline, and commitment throughout the workshop. The chairman also appreciated the ICPC, resource persons, ACTU leadership, and organizers for making the workshop successful.

Federal Commissioner Mr. Aliyu Abdulkadir Almakura stated that the commission expects staff to internalize the lessons learned and put them into practice. He hoped that the workshop would not be in vain and that staff would conduct themselves with integrity and accountability at work and outside of work. The commission's goal is to ensure that staff understand the importance of their role in promoting transparency and accountability.

Aisha Ahmed Mohamed, ICPC desk officer at RMAFC, explained that the public can send petitions related to the commission through the ICPC chairman, which will be dealt with accordingly. She emphasized that standing against corruption is the ICPC's base and encouraged the public to report any act of corruption. Penalties for offenses depend on their gravity, and investigations may take time, but justice will always be achieved.

Participants at the workshop expressed their commitment to applying the lessons learned for the benefit of the commission and the public. Mr. Kabir Al-Hassan Shuaibu from the Fiscal Efficiency Department at RMAFC Headquarters stated that the training was engaging and reminded participants of their civic responsibilities as Nigerians. Adaeze Mariam Oraegbuna from the Federal Account Department found the training insightful and impactful, reinforcing the importance of integrity, transparency, and accountability in public service.
