Rite Foods Limited has partnered with the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) to promote recycling and environmental sustainability in Nigeria. The partnership, themed “From Clean Plates to Clean Cities,” aims to support sanitation workers and improve their access to protective equipment. This initiative was part of activities marking World Cleanup Day, highlighting the importance of environmental sustainability and waste recovery. The partnership demonstrates Rite Foods' commitment to contributing meaningfully to the community where it operates.

As part of the partnership, Rite Foods Limited donated 600 coveralls to street sweepers in Ogun State. The donation was presented at the OGWAMA headquarters and was aimed at supporting waste management workers, recognising their contribution to cleaner communities, and promoting environmental sustainability and waste recovery. The provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) is a practical way of supporting the workers and safeguarding them as they carry out their duties. This initiative is particularly significant because Rite Foods operates in Ogun State and has a responsibility to contribute to the community.

According to Ekuma Eze, Head, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods Limited, the initiative was intended to appreciate workers who operate daily in challenging environments to keep communities clean. Eze said that the company wants to appreciate the people who show up every day to keep cities and communities clean, as they are doing an amazing job that most people do not realise. The donation of coveralls highlights the potential of waste recovery and recycling, with approximately 30 per cent of the materials used in producing the donated coveralls recovered from waste generated by Rite Foods’ operations.

Eze explained that the initiative begins at home, and Rite Foods has a responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the community where it operates. He stressed that the company must show that it is part and parcel of the community by starting from Ogun State. The partnership with OGWAMA demonstrates Rite Foods' commitment to environmental sustainability and waste management. The company is pursuing a long-term waste management strategy aimed at achieving zero waste to landfill by 2030.
