The Republic of Congo's National Investment Commission has given its approval to 17 out of 27 investment projects that were examined during its second session. The commission's decisions will be taken into account in the development of the country's next National Development Plan (PND) 2027-2031. The projects cover various sectors including agri-food, airport transport, construction, money transfers, and energy.
According to Sylvain Lekaka, Director of Cabinet to the Minister of Economy, Planning, Statistics, and Prospective, the commission's decisions will play a crucial role in shaping the country's next development plan. He emphasized that the session is taking place as the country is concluding its current development plan (2022-2026) and preparing for the next one. Lekaka highlighted the importance of these decisions in engaging the next development cycle.
During the session, the commission examined 27 dossiers from companies operating in various sectors. The results presented by Bonaventure Crépin Dzondo, Director of Economic Regulation and Investment Monitoring, showed that 17 projects received unconditional approval, 3 others received conditional approval, 3 requests were postponed, and 4 were rejected.
The total investment value for the approved projects is estimated at 566 billion 664 million 805 thousand 270 CFA francs, with the potential to create 3,127 jobs. Sylvain Lekaka noted that this demonstrates the willingness of national and international private companies to support the government in creating wealth.
Franck Mondesir Mbouayi Tsassa, Director General of Economy, emphasized the importance of the state creating necessary conditions to support companies in the current global crisis context. This, he said, would encourage wealth creation and support the national economy.
The National Investment Commission's role is to guide and evaluate investment projects, ensuring that approved projects adhere to principles of transparency, rigor, and good governance. The commission's second session aligns with government objectives aimed at industrialization and wealth transformation within the national territory.
The approved projects are expected to contribute to the country's economic growth and development. The government's efforts to create an enabling environment for businesses are seen as crucial in attracting investments and promoting economic progress.
