Member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Elder Leke Abejide, has announced a N500 million youth empowerment programme aimed at supporting young people across the constituency. The programme, unveiled at his homecoming ceremony in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, seeks to provide resources and opportunities for self-reliance, job creation, and community development. The initiative will cover youths across the 74 communities that make up the federal constituency.

Abejide made the commitment as part of his efforts to improve the welfare and economic prospects of his constituents. He explained that the programme was designed to equip young people with the skills and resources needed to establish and expand small-scale businesses. This, he believes, will contribute to the economic development of their communities and promote self-reliance. The lawmaker's pledge has been welcomed by his constituents, who see it as a positive step towards addressing youth unemployment and promoting economic growth.

In addition to the youth empowerment programme, Abejide also declared his support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election and the second-term bid of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo. He cited his conviction that their administrations have implemented policies and programmes that advance development and improve the welfare of Nigerians and Kogites. Abejide's endorsement is seen as a boost to the re-election bids of the two leaders.

The Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade, commended Abejide for his sustained interventions in the constituency, particularly his support for widows and students. Ayoade described the lawmaker's efforts as evidence of his commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable members of the constituency. She also noted that Abejide's support for education and entrepreneurship would have a positive impact on the lives of young people in the constituency.

The Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kogi State Chapter, Hon. Tosin Olokun, assured Abejide of the support of the people for President Tinubu and the lawmaker ahead of the 2027 elections. Olokun said the people had witnessed the impact of the APC-led administration and would continue to support leaders whose programmes and policies were geared towards development, economic growth, and good governance.

Other speakers at the event, including Hon. Emmanuel Obaro, urged youths in the constituency to unite and actively participate in the political process. They described the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the "winning team" ahead of the 2027 elections and called on the youths to support candidates who had demonstrated commitment to their development and the overall progress of the constituency and the state. The homecoming ceremony attracted a large turnout of political leaders, APC stakeholders, traditional rulers, youths, women, and other supporters from across the Yagba Federal Constituency.

The event marked a significant milestone in Abejide's efforts to engage with his constituents and promote development in the area. The lawmaker's pledge of N500 million for youth empowerment and his endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Ododo for re-election in 2027 have been seen as positive developments by his constituents. The programme is expected to have a lasting impact on the lives of young people in the constituency and contribute to the economic growth and development of the area.
