The Réseau national des femmes rurales de Guinée (RENAFERGI) has stepped up efforts to prevent breast and cervical cancer and provide support to affected women in Kindia. On October 31, 2026, the organization held the third edition of the Marche rose, marking the official closure of Octobre rose activities in the city. This annual event, supported by partners including LONAGUI, ONG Amali, and Institut Mathma Gandi, brings together local authorities, women's leaders, NGOs, and medical professionals to raise awareness about female cancers.

The march aims to encourage women to undergo early screening and detect cancers at an early stage. According to Hadja Mballou Fofana's representative, who is currently on a mission in Russia, the event is not just a simple procession but a commitment to saving lives and breaking the silence surrounding these diseases. The representative also praised the inclusion of cancer screening in the program for the Semaine de l'indépendance, a significant step forward for women's health in Guinea.

Dr. Léon Ivon Touré, a medical doctor in charge of the program at RENAFERGI, emphasized the importance of recognizing warning signs for breast and cervical cancer. Certain symptoms, such as unusual vaginal bleeding, foul-smelling discharge, a lump in the breast, or abnormal nipple discharge, should prompt women to seek medical attention promptly. Dr. Touré encouraged women not to fear screening and invited men to accompany their wives and partners to support them in detecting anomalies and seeking medical help.

The representative of the Directeur préfectoral de la santé at the ceremony reiterated the commitment of health structures to strengthen awareness, early screening, orientation, and follow-up for affected women. He stressed that the fight against cancer should not be limited to October but should be a permanent engagement from communities, families, and citizens. The representative encouraged women to undergo regular screening and consult healthcare professionals if they notice any unusual signs.

The event in Kindia is part of a larger effort to address the issue of female cancers in Guinea. According to the representative of Hadja Mballou Fofana, RENAFERGI has been organizing the Marche rose for three years to raise awareness about breast and cervical cancer. The organization works with partners to provide support to affected women and promote early detection and treatment.

The fight against cancer requires a collective effort, and RENAFERGI is committed to continuing its awareness and screening actions with partners. The organization aims to encourage women to take charge of their health and seek medical attention if they notice any unusual signs. By working together, it is possible to make a significant impact in the fight against female cancers in Guinea.

The closure of Octobre rose activities in Kindia marks the beginning of a permanent mobilization to promote women's health and prevent female cancers. The event has raised awareness about the importance of early screening and detection, and RENAFERGI will continue to work with partners to support affected women and promote a culture of prevention and care.
