Tanzania is looking to boost its exports to Qatar and utilize the Gulf nation as a strategic entry point to access wider Gulf markets. This approach was outlined by Minister for Industry and Trade, Judith Kapinga, during a meeting with First Vice-Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), Mohammed Al Kuwari, in Doha. The discussions were part of Prime Minister, Dr Mwigulu Nchemba’s working visit to Qatar.
Minister Kapinga emphasized the government’s commitment to increasing Tanzania’s exports to Qatar while attracting investors to establish value-addition industries that utilize the country’s abundant raw materials. She highlighted the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s efforts to strengthen the investment climate, ensuring a conducive business environment for both local and foreign investors. Prime Minister, Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, also held talks with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. Their discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and other areas of mutual interest. During the Tanzania-Qatar Business and Investment Forum, Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) Director General, Ephraim Mafuru, highlighted Qatar’s role as a strategic entry point into the wider Gulf market. He noted that Tanzania’s position within the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) provides investors with access to larger regional markets.

Tanzanian officials encouraged Qatari investors to take advantage of the country’s strategic location and expanding regional trade links.
