The Egyptian Ministry of Local Development and Environment announced that Qalyubeya has completed the handover of 639 out of 703 projects under the first phase of the presidential Decent Life rural development initiative in Shibin Al-Qanater. She called for faster processing of applications to legalise building violations and quicker completion of procedures to regularise the use of state-owned land.
Qalyubeya Governor Hossam Abdel Fattah presented several investment opportunities across the governorate, highlighting the region's potential for attracting additional investment, generating revenue from state-owned assets, and creating jobs. The governorate is seeking to capitalize on these opportunities to drive economic growth.
The meeting also reviewed the governorate's solid-waste management system, including two recently opened transfer stations at Arab Al-Aliqat in Khanka and Marsafa in Banha. Efforts to clear longstanding waste accumulations and prevent them from returning are underway. This is part of a broader strategy to improve environmental conditions in the region.
The first phase of the 30th nationwide campaign to remove illegal encroachments was also discussed. The campaign, carried out between August 29 and September 18, covered state and agricultural land, building violations, and unauthorised land-use changes. This initiative aims to protect public land and promote sustainable development.
Plans to plant trees along Qalyubeya's main roads and expand green areas were also discussed as part of a wider government drive to increase urban greenery. This initiative is expected to enhance the region's aesthetic appeal and contribute to environmental sustainability. The government is working to implement these projects and improve the quality of life for residents.
