The Imodi-Ijebu Muslim Community is set to host a turbaning ceremony, featuring a N1 billion fundraising drive for education and empowerment. The event, scheduled for the Tititlayo Agbaje Memorial Comprehensive High School, Imodi-Ijebu, will be attended by prominent personalities, including Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and former chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikrullah Olakunle Hassan.

The ceremony, slated for 10 am, will feature Senator Yayi, the Ogun All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, as the chief launcher, while Alhaji Abdul Waheed Yusuf, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mabtech Electrical Engineering Services Limited, Abuja, will serve as the co-launcher. The Bashorun of Offa Kingdom, Alhaji (Dr) Najeemdeen Usman Yasin, will chair the event, with the Olumodi of Imodi, High Chief Musibau Adewale Okusajo, as the Royal Father of the Day.

Other notable attendees include National Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh AbdurRahman Ahmad, who will deliver the guest lecture, and Grand Mufti of the Conference of Islamic Organisations, Sheikh Dhikrullah Shafi’i, who will deliver a keynote address. Alhaji Hassan will also deliver a keynote address at the ceremony. The event will also feature Special Guests of Honour, including President of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo.

Several individuals will be honoured at the ceremony, including Dr Chief Abdulfattah Owolabi Olufowobi, who will receive the Baba Adeen of Imodi-Ijebu title, and Alhaji Tajudeen Adegboyega Adebanjo, who will receive the Giwa Adeen of Imodi-Ijebu title. Retired Director of Procurement at NAHCON, Alhaji Ishaq Sanni, will be honoured as Aare Adeen of Imodi-Ijebu. Other recipients include Alhaja Hafsat Gbadamosi, Chief Ibraheem Opeyemi Mustapha, and Alhaja Sherifat Epenuse.

The titles conferred on the recipients are expected to confer responsibilities on them to contribute to the spiritual, educational, and social development of the Muslim community, strengthen community leadership, and support initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of Imodi-Ijebu Muslims. The N1 billion fundraising initiative aims to strengthen educational opportunities and create avenues for empowerment, particularly for young people, while promoting sustainable development within the community.

Imodi-Ijebu has a rich history of Islam, with Islamic scholarship, worship, and education playing important roles in its development. The growth of Islam in the community has been sustained by Imams, scholars, families, and community leaders who have supported religious education and the establishment of Muslim institutions.
