Tanzanian Minister of State in the President's Office for Planning and Investment, Prof Kitila Mkumbo, has extended an invitation to Dutch businesspeople and investors to capitalize on the numerous investment opportunities available in Tanzania. This invitation was issued during a meeting held in The Hague, Netherlands, where Prof Mkumbo highlighted the country's strategic geographical location, infrastructure, and surrounding markets as key factors that make Tanzania an essential hub for production, trade, and distribution of goods in African and global markets.

Prof Mkumbo emphasized that the Tanzanian government is committed to promoting investments that focus on adding value to the country's crops and natural resources, rather than exporting raw materials. This approach aims to strengthen the industrial sector, increase employment opportunities, expand trade, and stimulate economic growth. By doing so, the government seeks to create a more diversified and competitive economy.

The Minister also assured investors that the government is working to improve the business and investment environment in Tanzania. This includes simplifying procedures for investors and creating a conducive environment for the private sector to play a significant role in the country's development. Prof Mkumbo expressed confidence in Tanzania's ability to attract investors, citing the country's peace, political stability, abundant resources, and strategic location in East and Southern Africa.

Tanzania's current efforts to attract investors are part of a broader strategy to strengthen ties with the European business community, secure new capital and technology, and translate investment discussions into tangible projects. Prof Mkumbo's visit to the Netherlands is part of a larger investment promotion tour in Europe, which began in Helsinki, Finland, on September 28, 2026, and will also include stops in Italy.

The tour is also a preparatory step towards the Tanzania-European Union Business and Investment Forum, scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam in 2027. This forum aims to bring together Tanzanian and European businesses, governments, and investors to discuss investment opportunities and facilitate partnerships.

During his visit, Prof Mkumbo has been engaging with Dutch investors, business leaders, and officials to discuss potential areas of collaboration and investment. He has highlighted Tanzania's competitive advantages, including its large market, growing economy, and natural resources. The Minister's efforts aim to position Tanzania as a prime destination for foreign investment.

Tanzania's engagement with European investors is expected to yield positive outcomes, including increased foreign direct investment, job creation, and technology transfer. The government's commitment to creating a favorable business environment and promoting investment opportunities is seen as a crucial step towards achieving the country's economic development goals.
