A three-year-old pupil died after falling from the first floor of a boys’ dormitory at a private school in Soy, Uasin Gishu county. The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 23 at around 1pm while the child was playing with three other children at the school. According to police, the child was a pupil in the school’s daycare class when he accidentally fell from the first floor of the dormitory and sustained a head injury.
The child was rushed to Ziwa Sub-County Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention. His body was initially preserved at the hospital before being transferred to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary for preservation and postmortem. The police have started investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall.
In another incident, a seven-year-old boy drowned in River Endoo in Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet county, while playing with other children after school. The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 23 at around 3pm in Sewene village, Ketigoi sublocation, within Mao location. The deceased was a PP1 pupil at Chemosong ECD School.
According to police, the boy had gone to play with other children after school at around 12:30pm. He was later reported to have drowned while the children were attempting to swim in the river. Police visited the scene, where they established that the boy had drowned and died. Villagers assisted in retrieving his body from the river.
The body of the seven-year-old boy was processed at the scene before being moved to Kamwosor Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination. Meanwhile, police in Vihiga county launched investigations after the body of an unidentified teenage girl was found in a bush near River Mutiko in Emutenga village, Sibakala sublocation, Ipali location.
The body of the African female juvenile, estimated to be about 17 years old, was discovered on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. A manila rope had been tied tightly around the girl’s neck, according to the police report. There were no visible external injuries on the body, which had already started decomposing.
The circumstances surrounding the girl’s death remain unclear, and police have classified the incident as a suspected murder as investigations continue. The body was processed at the scene before being removed to the Vihiga Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending identification and a postmortem examination.
