President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana recently welcomed the Executive Committee of the Assemblies of God Church, led by its Global Chairman, Rev. Dominic Yeo, at the Jubilee House in Accra. The meeting was held in anticipation of the church's 10th Triennial World Congress, scheduled to take place from October 14-16, 2026. During the meeting, President Mahama expressed his pride in being a member of the Assemblies of God Church.

According to President Mahama, his affiliation with the church began after he married his wife, who was introduced to it by a friend. He described the church as an integral part of his life, recalling his experience at the Ringway Gospel Centre as a close-knit family where members support one another. The President's remarks reflected his long-standing connection with the church.

President Mahama noted that Ghana was selected to host the congress in 2023, but preparations seemed distant at the time. However, with the event now imminent, he commended the Local Organising Committee for its efforts in preparing for the international gathering. The President acknowledged the logistical challenges involved in organising such a large-scale event.

The original venue for the congress was set to be the Black Star Square, but it could not be used due to a lack of required facilities. As a result, the government temporarily reopened the Accra International Conference Centre, which was undergoing renovation, to accommodate the congress. President Mahama expressed appreciation for the committee's work in finding an alternative solution.

President Mahama also praised the growth of the Assemblies of God Church in Ghana, noting that it continues to attract new members and expand its capacity to accommodate growing congregations. He expressed confidence that Ghana would successfully host the congress and that delegates would leave with positive memories of the country.

The President acknowledged that some delegates faced challenges in obtaining visas and travelling to Ghana. He assured that measures had been taken to ease the process, ensuring a smoother experience for attendees. President Mahama expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the congress, which begins on Wednesday, October 14.

The upcoming 10th Triennial World Congress of the Assemblies of God Church is expected to be a significant event, bringing together delegates from around the world. With Ghana hosting the event, President Mahama's welcome and support are seen as a boost to the preparations. The congress is anticipated to strengthen the global ties of the church and promote unity among its members.
