On Thursday, President John Dramani Mahama paid a working visit to Kasapreko PLC, commending the company for its successful listing on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE). This milestone marks a significant chapter in Kasapreko's 38-year journey, solidifying its position as one of Ghana's most notable indigenous business success stories. The President's visit underscores the government's support for local businesses and their efforts to expand operations and create employment opportunities.

Kasapreko PLC officially listed on the GSE on June 15, 2026, following a landmark Initial Public Offering (IPO) that attracted approximately GH¢1.72 billion in investor demand. This represents a subscription rate of 246 per cent, making it one of the most successful public offers in recent Ghanaian capital market history. The listing demonstrates the company's growth and potential, as well as investor confidence in Ghana's market.

During his visit, President Mahama addressed concerns about Ghanaian companies fearing loss of control when listing on the Stock Exchange. He cited Kasapreko as an example of a company that has successfully listed and is performing well, having raised GH¢700 million to invest in its new factory at Adeiso. The President expressed his satisfaction with Kasapreko's growth and job creation, highlighting the importance of such investments in driving economic development.

President Mahama recalled visiting Kasapreko 11 years ago to inaugurate its Production Line Three, noting the company's significant expansion since then. Today, Kasapreko operates Production Line 8, producing a variety of products for both local and foreign markets. The President described Kasapreko as a proud Ghanaian brand and a model for other indigenous enterprises to emulate, showcasing the capacity of Ghanaian entrepreneurs to build successful manufacturing businesses.

The President discussed the government's initiatives to support industrialization, including the 24-Hour Economy initiative and the Accelerated Export Development Programme. He also highlighted the reorientation of the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, which has helped bring industry into focus and given businesses a stronger voice in government. These efforts aim to create an enabling environment for the private sector to grow and drive economic development.

President Mahama commended Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, for her efforts in addressing industry concerns and challenges. He expressed his pride in seeing young people gainfully employed at factories like Kasapreko and emphasized the government's commitment to encouraging businesses to invest and expand their operations. This, he believes, will lead to the creation of more employment opportunities for Ghanaians.

The President looks forward to commissioning Kasapreko's new factory in Adeiso next year, which is expected to add more jobs for young people. With new industries emerging and existing businesses expanding, President Mahama is optimistic about Ghana's economic prospects, citing the government's fiscal discipline and efforts to create space for the private sector to grow.
