The Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, Archbishop Tomasz Grysa, recently joined Catholic faithful at St. Peter's Church, Nsambya, to commemorate All Souls' Day. This solemn occasion, observed annually on November 2, is dedicated to remembering and praying for the departed. Archbishop Grysa presided over the Eucharistic celebration, acknowledging the profound sorrow that death brings, especially when families lose their loved ones.

During the celebration, Archbishop Grysa urged Christians not to allow grief to overshadow their faith and hope in God's promise of eternal life. He noted that while the loss of relatives, friends, and other loved ones leaves an irreplaceable gap in people's lives, Christians should remain steadfast in their faith, trusting in God's mercy and continuing to pray for those who have departed this world.

Archbishop Grysa explained that the departed, like the living, may have died with spiritual imperfections and therefore need the prayers and intercession of the faithful as they await the fullness of God's presence. He encouraged Christians to make remembering the dead an integral part of their spiritual lives, emphasizing the importance of praying for the departed and seeking God's mercy on their behalf.

The Archbishop also called on the congregation to observe moments of silence and prayer for innocent people who have lost their lives in wars and political conflicts across different parts of the world. He expressed concern over the continued loss of innocent lives, urging those responsible for violence and conflicts to reflect on their actions and embrace peace in order to save lives.

Archbishop Grysa challenged Christians to use the month of November as a period of prayer, remembrance, and personal spiritual reflection. He urged the faithful to examine their relationship with God, identify areas where they may be falling short of His expectations, and make the necessary changes to live according to God's will.

The All Souls' Day celebration at St. Peter's Church, Nsambya, brought together Catholic faithful in prayer and remembrance of family members, friends, and all those who have passed away. The event was an opportunity for the living to reflect on their own spiritual journey, strengthen their faith, and prepare for the promise of eternal life.

The celebration was reported by Kiggwe Muggaga on November 2, 2026, and was attended by Catholic faithful from the Nsambya community. The event concluded with a message of hope and renewal, as Christians looked forward to eternal life and the promise of being reunited with their loved ones who have passed away.
