The bandits had intercepted a vehicle carrying six female students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma and one other occupant. Police operatives engaged the bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to flee with gunshot injuries, and rescued all seven occupants unharmed. The victims underwent medical evaluation, were discharged, and reunited with relevant authorities.
The rescued victims were handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Katsina for further investigation. Meanwhile, in Cross River State, police operatives arrested a principal suspect in connection with the murder of a 22-year-old woman. The case is being handled by the SCID in Calabar. The suspect's arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the murder.
In Anambra State, police operatives arrested three suspects in connection with the death of a 34-year-old man at Ojoto community, in Idemili South Local Government Area. The victim's remains have been deposited in a morgue for autopsy, and the SCID in Awka is investigating the incident. Additionally, police arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a 30-year-old man at Iwere-Ile area of Oyo State.
The Nigeria Police Force also reported other successes on September 21, including the neutralization of a suspected bandit and the arrest of two others in Benue State. Furthermore, police operatives arrested four suspected members of a terrorist group in Anambra State and recovered firearms. They also arrested suspected cultists and a kidnapper, demonstrating their commitment to tackling various forms of crime.
