The Ghana Police Service has announced that Harold Norman, the husband of popular Ghanaian actress Nana Akua Addo, will be arraigned for alleged domestic abuse after his discharge from hospital. According to the police, Nana Akua Addo had petitioned the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on August 20, 2026, alleging physical, emotional, and economic abuse by her husband.
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that a case involving the couple had previously been handled by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026. Following the petition, Harold Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist with investigations. He subsequently provided a caution statement and was granted police enquiry bail on August 29 with two sureties.
The police had scheduled Harold Norman to appear before court on October 7, 2026. However, his lawyer informed investigators that he had been admitted to hospital and was therefore unable to appear. The police visited the hospital to verify his claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure he is arraigned immediately upon discharge.
The CID has assured that it is working with the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to ensure that social welfare services are provided to Nana Akua Addo and her children.
