The Northern Regional Police Command in Ghana has initiated an investigation into the deaths of three children, aged between three and seven years, whose bodies were discovered in the boot of a vehicle in Tamale. According to the police, the children, identified as Dauda Abdul Aziz, Saani Alsharaf, and Dauda Fadilan, had gone missing after leaving home to attend Islamic classes. Their bodies were found on Monday morning, October 5, in a black Hyundai Tucson.

The vehicle, registered as AS 1770-14, belonged to a personnel of the Ghana Immigration Service and had been stuck in the mud for five days. The police stated that a preliminary inspection of the vehicle revealed that the driver's door and the rear passenger door behind the driver's seat were open, while the other doors, including the boot, were locked. The owner of the vehicle has been arrested and is being taken to Accra to assist with the investigation.

The children had allegedly left home at around 8 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, to attend Islamic classes but failed to return home. Community members attempted to locate them but were unsuccessful until their bodies were discovered. The police have secured the vehicle for further forensic examination as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The Inspector General of Police has deployed a special team, comprising homicide investigators, crime scene experts, and intelligence officers, to Tamale to support the Northern Regional Police Command.
