The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has charged Police Inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang with the murder of Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso. Sang appeared before the Milimani High Court, where he was arraigned before Justice Alexander Muteti and pleaded not guilty to the murder charge. According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the charge relates to the shooting of Dr. Mutiso along Mawensi Road in Kilimani, Nairobi.

The prosecution alleges that Sang, jointly with other persons who are yet to be arraigned, unlawfully caused Dr. Mutiso's death. Dr. Mutiso was shot at approximately 9:30 a.m. on the day of the incident. Following the plea-taking, the prosecution informed the court that the DPP would oppose Sang's release on bail. The prosecution indicated that it would file an affidavit setting out the grounds for opposing bail.

Sang was remanded at Industrial Area Remand Prison pending further directions on his bail application. The matter will be mentioned on November 30, 2026. Sang, who was arrested in Eldoret, becomes the fifth person to be charged in connection with Dr. Mutiso's murder. The other accused persons include Rose Mbithe Mulwa and her two children, Chris Mulwa and Angela Mulwa.

Alongside Sang, Police Constables Julius Kipkoech Cheruiyot and Kennedy Kipkemoi Borboroi have also been charged in connection with Dr. Mutiso's murder. The charges were announced by the ODPP on November 4, 2026. The DPP's office has not disclosed further details about the investigation or the role of the other accused persons.

Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso was a prominent figure in Kenya, and her murder has garnered significant attention. The authorities have not released further information about the motive behind the murder or the relationships between the accused persons and the victim. The case will continue to be heard at the Milimani High Court.

The ODPP has stated that it will present its case against Sang and the other accused persons in court. The prosecution, led by Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (SADPP) Victor Owiti, will seek to prove that the accused persons unlawfully caused Dr. Mutiso's death. The court will determine the culpability of each accused person.

The case is ongoing, with the next mention scheduled for November 30, 2026. Sang and the other accused persons will have the opportunity to present their defense against the charges. The Kenyan justice system will determine the outcome of the case.
