Gauteng police are actively investigating the discovery of a body in open veld near Rhokana Road in Springs on Sunday afternoon. The body was spotted by a security company vehicle patrolling the area, which alerted the authorities. According to Gauteng police commissioner Lt-Gen Tommy Mthombeni, the investigation will begin with a detailed processing of the crime scene, followed by forensic work to identify the victim.

This latest discovery brings to 11 the number of bodies of women found dumped in different parts of Ekurhuleni.

Mthombeni revealed that a high-level command group has been established, involving senior SAPS officials, including himself, officials responsible for crime detection and forensic services, crime intelligence, and organised crime. Ntombifuthi Nxumalo, the 10th woman to be found dead in the Ekurhuleni municipality, was believed to have been stoned to death. Her body was discovered on Saturday morning in Thembisa near the Mooifontein Cemetery in the Vusimuzi section. Mthombeni confirmed that the investigation has commenced and is ongoing.
Mthombeni expressed confidence that investigators are on the right track, but emphasized that community cooperation is essential in cracking the case.
