The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has made an arrest in connection with the death of a man whose body was found under the Katampe Bridge along the Kubwa Expressway in Abuja. According to FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Sanusi, a married woman, Mrs Rukayat Muhammed, and two hotel workers have been taken into custody. The deceased had been reported missing by his family before his body was discovered on August 26, 2026.
The investigation into the man's death took a significant turn after detectives found that his mobile phone was missing and traced its last known activity. This led police to Muhammed, who was allegedly in a relationship with the deceased. Further investigation revealed that Muhammed and the deceased had checked into the Good Samaritan Guest House in Gwarimpa, where they spent some time together.
According to CP Sanusi, Muhammed told investigators that she discovered the man was no longer breathing. However, instead of reporting the incident to the police, she took his mobile phone and left the hotel. The hotel management later gained access to the room and found the deceased's body. Two hotel staff, Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, allegedly removed the body and transported it to the Kubwa Expressway, where it was dumped under the bridge.
The incident initially generated speculation about a possible kidnapping or "one-chance" robbery. However, investigators established that the body belonged to the man whose disappearance had been reported by his family. The police are still ongoing with the investigation to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the man's death.
CP Sanusi stressed that anyone found to have played a role in the man's death or the subsequent concealment and abandonment of his body would face the law. The police are continuing their investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the man's death and how his body was moved from the Gwarimpa guest house to the Katampe area.
