The Ghana Police Service has made a breakthrough in the case of the kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing on September 22, 2026. According to the Police, investigations by the Missing Persons Unit revealed that Nana Yaw Kyere left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19 in his Honda Civic vehicle but did not return. The Police have since arrested three suspects in connection with the incident.
The suspects have been identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai. Preliminary investigations established that the deceased was lured to the residence of suspect Philip Tefe at Teshie Agblezaa by Sarah Osei Adams. The Police said both Tefe and Adams later confessed to their involvement in the incident. The circumstances surrounding the kidnapping and murder are still under investigation.
According to the Police, Tefe attacked Nana Yaw Kyere during a confrontation and hit him with a metallic object, causing injuries. The victim was subsequently moved to another room, where he was left unattended and later died. The Police believe that the suspects' actions led to the death of Nana Yaw Kyere. The investigation is ongoing to determine the motives behind the kidnapping and murder.
Investigations further established that the victim’s body was transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway on September 20, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze. The partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21. The Police are working to determine how the suspects managed to carry out the disposal of the body without being detected.
The victim’s biological mother and an uncle later identified the body at the Police Hospital mortuary on September 24, 2026. The Police also retrieved the victim’s iPhone 12, which they said suspect Philip Tefe had allegedly sold for GH¢100. The buyer, identified as Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for allegedly dishonestly receiving the phone.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Josiah Obodai, who is being investigated in connection with the disposal of the body. His father’s Kia Morning vehicle, which the Police believe was used to transport the body, has also been impounded. The three suspects are currently in Police custody and are expected to be put before the court as investigations continue to identify and arrest other persons who may have been involved in the case.
