The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man suspected of involvement in the murder of a resident in Karofin Madaki, Bauchi metropolis. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the suspect, Abdulrazak Sale Kundang, also known as “Abba Sale Police”, was arrested on Monday, October 5, 2026, following credible information provided by a Good Samaritan. The arrest comes after a three-month manhunt by the police.

The suspect is allegedly involved in the July 5 murder of 46-year-old Rilwanu Dauda of Karofi. According to Habib, Dauda was attacked and allegedly stabbed with a knife by Sale and his gang members at about 9:30am. The victim was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor at about 11am. The police launched efforts to apprehend the suspects and placed them on the command’s watchlist.

The suspects had previously been linked to a politically motivated murder in the same area before going into hiding. Habib added that the arrest followed intelligence received from a member of the public, which enabled operatives to locate and apprehend the principal suspect exactly three months after the alleged crime. The police are continuing efforts to arrest the remaining suspects who are still at large.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the officers involved for their professionalism and resilience. He assured residents that the command would continue to pursue suspected criminals and warned that “no criminal will have a hiding place in Bauchi State.” The commissioner’s statement reflects the police’s commitment to maintaining security in the state.

The commissioner also directed that the case be thoroughly investigated and that the suspect be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. This directive ensures that the suspect faces justice and provides closure for the victim’s family. The police’s efforts to bring the suspect to justice demonstrate their dedication to upholding the law.

The Bauchi State Police Command’s achievement in arresting the suspect after a three-month manhunt demonstrates their capabilities in tracking down and apprehending suspects. The police’s use of intelligence and collaboration with members of the public was instrumental in the arrest. This success story highlights the importance of community involvement in maintaining security.

The police’s efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and bring them to justice are ongoing. Residents are urged to continue providing information that may lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects.
