The Kano State Police Command has successfully apprehended two suspected notorious highway armed robbers in the Wudil Local Government Area, along the Kano-Maiduguri highway. According to the police, the suspects, Abubakar Isah, 27, and Shehu Ibrahim, 25, both from Zogarawa Village, Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, Kano State, were arrested on October 3, 2026, after a thorough investigation. The arrest was made possible through intelligence-led operations and sustained follow-up by police officers attached to Filin Hockey Division, Kano.
The robbery incident occurred on September 30, 2026, when the suspects chartered a tricycle from Nasiru Ibrahim, belonging to Hotoro Quarters, Kano, to Yar Gaya, Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, along the Kano-Maiduguri Highway, for N8,000. While en-route, the suspects allegedly used locally made guns to threaten Nasiru at gunpoint, robbed him of his tricycle, and abandoned him in a nearby bush. The police received a report of the incident on September 31, 2026, and immediately initiated an investigation.
During the investigation, the police recovered the stolen tricycle and two locally made guns from the suspects' possession. The suspects confessed to the crime, and the police are currently compiling the case for prosecution. The Commissioner of Police, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers for their commitment and professionalism in apprehending the suspects.
The police have urged anyone who may have fallen victim to similar tricycle robbery along the Kano-Maiduguri Highway, particularly the Hotoro – Dawakin Kudu – Wudil axis, to come forward to Filin Hockey Police Division for identification.
