The Ashanti Regional Police Command in Ghana has announced that it will temporarily close selected roads in and around the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3, 2026. This measure is intended to ensure public safety, facilitate effective traffic management, and maintain security during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates Conference and Elections. The police have identified specific routes that will be closed to vehicular traffic.

According to the police, the closed routes include the stretch from Bridginia Traffic Lights to Carvery Methodist Church, Unity Oil Fuel Station to T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, and Is My Kitchen Restaurant to Bridginia Traffic Lights. The closures are aimed at managing the expected large turnout of delegates and ensuring a smooth and secure event. The police have also announced alternative routes to ease congestion and facilitate the movement of vehicles during the temporary closures.

The police have designated alternative routes for commercial vehicles and other traffic. Commercial vehicles from Amakom will proceed straight towards Asokwa, while vehicles coming from Asafo will be diverted at Bridginia Traffic Lights towards Asokwa or the Amakom Traffic Lights. Additionally, commercial vehicles traveling from LLL towards T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School will proceed straight to the Amakom Traffic Lights. These arrangements are intended to minimize disruptions and ensure the smooth movement of vehicles.

The police have also outlined designated parking arrangements for vehicles attending the conference. Only vehicles belonging to former presidents and the NPP presidential candidate will be permitted to park at the VVIP Car Park. Regional delegates arriving by bus, as well as national party executives, will park at the Heroes Park, while official police vehicles will use the Hockey Pitch. This arrangement is aimed at ensuring orderly parking and easy access for authorized personnel.

The police have emphasized that all delegates and vehicles attending the conference must be duly accredited. Only accredited delegates and vehicles will be allowed access to designated areas and parking facilities. Motorists have been directed to display their accreditation prominently and comply with all instructions issued by police officers deployed to the event. This measure is intended to ensure security and prevent unauthorized access to the event.

The police command has urged the public and motorists to cooperate with officers and follow the designated traffic arrangements to ensure a safe and orderly event. The closures and alternative routes are intended to minimize disruptions and ensure the success of the NPP National Delegates Conference and Elections. The police are working to ensure that the event is held without major incidents.

The NPP National Delegates Conference and Elections is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The event is expected to attract a large number of delegates and party officials. The police have assured the public that they are prepared to manage the event and ensure a safe and secure environment for all participants.
