The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), a statutory body established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act of 2013, is seeking a qualified Petroleum Officer for Gas Processing. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and regulating the development and operation of gas conversion and utilisation facilities to ensure they are designed, constructed, operated, and maintained safely and efficiently. The PAU's mandate includes ensuring petroleum operations in Uganda are carried out in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and international best practices.
The Petroleum Officer for Gas Processing will be based in Kampala, Uganda, and will be responsible for monitoring activities related to the development of gas processing and utilisation facilities. The officer will review engineering designs of gas processing and utilisation facilities and participate in the preparation and review of periodic progress reports and submissions. This role requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences, with at least three years of relevant work experience in oil and gas process facilities design, development, or operations.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Petroleum Officer for Gas Processing include contributing to the development of guidelines, procedures, and manuals for gas processing and utilisation activities. The officer will review technical reports submitted by licensees for gas processing and utilisation activities and provide technical support in the review of Uganda's legislation for gas conversion. Additionally, the officer will evaluate and review codes and standards submitted for gas conversion facilities.
The PAU is looking for a candidate with specific experience in the oil and gas industry, as well as strong analytical, communication, and report writing skills. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of integrity and a commitment to risk management and audit planning.
