The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), a statutory body established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act of 2013, is seeking a Petroleum Engineer for production. The successful candidate will be based in Kampala, Uganda, and will play a crucial role in ensuring optimal production and injection performance. The PAU's mandate includes monitoring and regulating petroleum operations in Uganda, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and international best practices.
The Petroleum Engineer Production will be responsible for regulatory aspects of production, including real-time production monitoring and the selection and operation of production and injection systems. The engineer will participate in planning, acquisition, validation, and interpretation of production and injection data. Additionally, they will assist in field monitoring and reporting on the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of production and injection systems.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Petroleum Engineer Production include contributing to the review of Licensee applications for Annual Production Permits and work programs and budgets related to production and injection systems and operations. The engineer will also assist in acquiring, transmitting, and disseminating real-time production data to relevant stakeholders and participate in measuring produced petroleum and back allocation.
The ideal candidate for the role will have an Honours Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Petroleum Geoscience, or a related field from an internationally recognized university. They will also require three years of relevant work experience in a similar role, with specific experience in the Oil and Gas industry being an added advantage. Key competencies include risk management, audit planning, analytical skills, and high-level integrity.
The PAU is seeking a candidate with strong communication and report-writing skills, as well as interpersonal skills. The engineer will be required to evaluate technical studies relating to production operations, production monitoring, and artificial lift systems. They will also review and evaluate well productivity and injectivity to ensure optimal performance and propose suitable upgrades for continuous improvement.
