Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, a prominent figure in the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, has commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his recent donation of 100 operational vehicles to various security agencies in the state. This gesture is seen as a significant investment in Ekiti State's security architecture. Oluyede, who was the PDP candidate in the June 20 governorship election, emphasized that the provision of these vehicles would greatly enhance the mobility, visibility, and rapid response capacity of security personnel across the state.
Oluyede, also the Convener of the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda, made these remarks in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday. He urged the security agencies to maximize the use of the mobility equipment to strengthen the security of lives and property, as well as promote peace in the state. According to Oluyede, the protection of lives and property is a shared responsibility among all political leaders and stakeholders, irrespective of their political affiliations.
The donation of 100 operational vehicles to security agencies in Ekiti State was made by Governor Oyebanji on Monday. The vehicles are intended to support the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services, and local security outfits. Oluyede described this intervention as a demonstration of the importance attached to the safety of Ekiti residents. He emphasized that security is the foundation upon which meaningful development can take place.
Oluyede further highlighted that the provision of these vehicles is more than just an acquisition; it is an investment in the capacity of security agencies to respond more effectively to emergencies, improve patrols, and maintain a strong security presence across communities. He appealed to the security agencies to deploy the vehicles effectively and maintain them properly so that they can serve the people for a long time.
The PDP chieftain also stressed the need for stronger collaboration among the various security agencies, emphasizing that intelligence sharing, rapid response, and coordinated operations are essential to sustaining the peace that Ekiti is known for. He hailed the security operatives in Ekiti for their sacrifices and dedication to protecting citizens despite working under difficult conditions, saying they deserve the support of the government and the cooperation of residents.
Oluyede called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organizations, religious bodies, and residents across the 16 local government areas to continue supporting security agencies with useful information that could help prevent crime and protect communities. He stated that government has a responsibility to provide necessary equipment and institutional support, while security agencies have the responsibility to deploy those resources professionally.
Oluyede expressed confidence that sustained investment in security, infrastructure, human capital development, and economic opportunities would contribute significantly to the long-term development of the state. He concluded by emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in building a safer and more prosperous Ekiti.
