In a recent sermon, Pastor Lazarus Muoka of Nigeria highlighted the significance of living a life of righteousness and holiness, as emphasized in Ephesians 4:24. According to Muoka, humans were created to know God, walk with Him, and reflect His character on earth. However, sin led to separation from God, but through Jesus Christ, restoration and a path to holiness are possible.

Muoka stressed that Christianity is not just about attending church or carrying a Bible, but about experiencing a transformation of life. He cited Second Corinthians 5:17, which states that those in Christ become new creatures, with old things passing away and new things becoming. The pastor emphasized that salvation must produce transformation and that grace does not give permission to continue in sin, but rather teaches us to depart from it.

The pastor also highlighted the importance of the heart in living a holy life, citing Matthew 5:8, which says that the pure in heart will see God. Muoka noted that holiness begins in the heart and that genuine holiness requires the cleansing of the inner man. He referenced Psalm 51:10, where David cried out to God to create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him.

Muoka emphasized that God is more interested in who we are becoming than in what we possess. He warned that many people desire God's blessings but do not desire God's holiness, and that holiness is not optional for Christians. Citing Hebrews 12:14, Muoka stated that without holiness, no one will see the Lord.

The pastor also discussed the importance of renewing the mind and not conforming to the world. He cited Romans 12:2, which says that Christians should be transformed by the renewing of their minds. Muoka emphasized that what we watch, listen to, and meditate on can influence our spiritual lives, and that we must choose righteousness and deny ungodliness every day.

Muoka highlighted that holiness involves self-denial and that the greatest test of holiness is often what we do in secret. He warned that God sees everything and that there is no hiding place from Him. Citing Numbers 32:23, Muoka stated that sin will find us out, but that God provides grace for holy living.

Finally, Muoka encouraged Christians to stop playing religious games and to return to genuine righteousness and holiness. He emphasized that God does not merely command holiness but provides grace for holy living, citing Philippians 4:13 and First John 1:9. Muoka urged Christians to bring their struggles and sins to Christ, who is able to transform and cleanse them.
