Parents in Katakwi District, Uganda, have been encouraged to fulfill their school obligations by paying school dues and contributions on time. This call was made by Angela Kulume, a parent at IJB School in Katakwi District, during a recent blessing ceremony for 31 Primary Seven candidates. Kulume emphasized that delayed payment of school contributions can create gaps in services and support provided by schools, negatively affecting learners' concentration and academic performance.

The Primary Leaving Examinations are scheduled to begin on November 3, 2026. IJB School Headteacher Solomon Onyaun expressed confidence that this year's candidates are well-prepared for their final examinations, similar to the school's performance in 2025. The school had 28 candidates in 2025, compared to 31 candidates this year. Onyaun appreciated parents for entrusting the school with their children and expressed optimism that the candidates would perform well and attain First Grade results.

Rev. Fr. Jonathan Wyok Bahago, the priest of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Katakwi, was the main celebrant at the blessing ceremony. He encouraged the candidates to remain focused as they prepare to sit their final examinations. Fr. Jonathan dedicated the candidates to God in prayer and urged them to make their parents, teachers, and everyone who had supported their education proud.

Some of the candidates expressed confidence ahead of the examinations. Martha Inyangu, who aspires to become a cardiologist, credited her teachers for adequately preparing them. She hopes to attain six aggregates. Another candidate, Otim James, hopes to attain four aggregates and aspires to become a soldier.

The school's performance in 2025 was satisfactory, with candidates attaining good grades. IJB School has a reputation for producing high-achieving students, and this year's candidates are expected to follow suit. The school's headteacher and teachers have worked hard to ensure that students are well-prepared for their examinations.

Parents and guardians play a crucial role in supporting learners as they prepare for their examinations. By paying school dues and contributions on time, parents can help ensure that schools provide a conducive learning environment for their children. This, in turn, can positively impact learners' concentration and academic performance.

As the Primary Leaving Examinations approach, candidates, parents, and teachers are working together to ensure that students are well-prepared. With the support of parents, teachers, and the school administration, IJB School's Primary Seven candidates are expected to perform well in their examinations.
