Residents of Iseyin, Oyo State, are bearing the brunt of the deteriorating condition of the Iseyin-Abeokuta road, with many calling for urgent intervention. The road, which serves several agrarian communities, has been neglected for too long, affecting the movement of farm produce. The President of Ebedi Frontliners, Iseyin, Mr Segun Adeleke, led an inspection of a collapsed section of the federal road at Oja-Agbe, Iseyin. The road was last reconstructed during the first term of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.

The deteriorating road is causing significant economic losses, with many farms' produce getting spoilt along the road. Trailers and trucks get stuck on the way or fall by the roadside due to the collapsed sections of the road. Adeleke said the road's neglect has been too long, and it's affecting the livelihoods of many. He called on the Minister for Works, David Umahi, to visit the road and see its condition. The road's collapse is not limited to one section, with another bridge at Ado-Awaye also collapsed.

The All Progressives Congress candidate for the Federal House of Representatives for Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola, and Iwajowa, Saheed Alaran, assured that the collapsed section would be given adequate attention by the Federal Government. Alaran appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his efforts in constructing the coastal road and revamping many existing roads across Nigeria. Other stakeholders, including the candidate of the Allied People’s Movement, Dasola Fadiran, and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Psaltry International Company, Mrs Yemisi Iranloye, also called for urgent intervention.

The stakeholders cited the poor condition of the road and the loss of manpower among farmers, truck drivers, and other road users as reasons for urgent intervention. They emphasized that the road's condition is a critical issue that requires immediate attention. The road is crucial for the movement of goods and services, and its collapse is having a ripple effect on the local economy.

The inspection of the collapsed section of the road revealed the extent of the damage. The road's surface is severely damaged, with potholes and cracks visible. The collapse of the road has also affected the safety of road users, with many expressing concerns about the risk of accidents. The stakeholders are calling for a comprehensive repair of the road to prevent further damage.

The economic impact of the road's collapse is significant, with many farmers and traders affected. The road is a critical link between Iseyin and Abeokuta, and its collapse has disrupted the supply chain. The stakeholders are urging the Federal Government to take urgent action to repair the road and restore the flow of goods and services.

The call for urgent intervention on the Iseyin-Abeokuta road is gaining momentum, with many stakeholders emphasizing the need for action.
