Hon. Adesoji Adedeji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate in Oyo State, has called for increased youth involvement in the party's grassroots mobilisation efforts. This call was made during zonal engagements with APC members and supporters in Saki, Ogbomoso, Iseyin, and Oyo. The events, themed "Building APC Youths for Electoral Success in Oyo State," aimed to boost the party's mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 general elections. Adedeji emphasised the importance of youth participation in the party's activities across the state. The engagements took place on Wednesday and Thursday.
During the gatherings in Saki, Ogbomoso, Iseyin, and Oyo, Adedeji urged APC youths to become more involved in grassroots mobilisation and party activities. He stressed that the party needs to strengthen its presence beyond Ibadan, highlighting the significance of Ogbomoso, Oyo, Ibarapa, and Oke-Ogun in the state's political and development planning. Adedeji likened the strength of the APC to a forest, where "a single tree cannot make a forest," and called for greater cooperation among party members. He also described youths as a crucial part of the party's structure.
Adedeji outlined some policy areas that the APC administration would prioritise if elected in 2027. These include strengthening the local government system, improving workers' welfare, expanding educational opportunities, and promoting youth development. The deputy governorship candidate pledged to focus on paying salaries, allowances, gratuities, and pensions. Education and youth development would receive priority due to their importance to human capital development and the state's economic prospects.
Adedeji further pledged to intensify efforts to attract investment to Oyo State, citing increased economic activity as a means to create employment and other opportunities for residents. These commitments add to other priorities previously outlined by the APC ticket, including infrastructure, healthcare, and agriculture. The party's goal is to ensure all-round development in the state.
At the various engagements, party leaders urged members to maintain unity and strengthen mobilisation ahead of the elections. Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, the APC candidate for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, and Oriire Federal Constituency, commended party members and youths for their mobilisation efforts and urged them to remain united.
The APC Youth Leader, Remi Adepoju, said the youth wing would intensify its mobilisation activities and appealed to party leaders to continue supporting younger members. Other speakers expressed support for the Alli-Soji ticket and called for increased grassroots engagement across the state. In Ogbomoso, participants observed a minute's silence in honour of the late former Oyo State governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala.
The zonal engagements demonstrated the APC's commitment to youth participation and grassroots mobilisation in Oyo State. With the 2027 general elections approaching, the party is focusing on building a strong foundation for electoral success. Key stakeholders, including Hon. Odedunmi Bunmi Olubukunmi and Hon. Glory Ola, were present at the events. The party's efforts aim to ensure a strong showing in the upcoming elections.
