Milford FC midfielder Menzi "Deco" Chili believes that the team's impressive start to their first season in the Betway Premiership will serve as a significant motivator for them to maintain their momentum. Despite being newcomers to the top division, Milford has shown promising signs, currently sitting fifth in the log with 12 points from eight matches. Their recent performances have been particularly noteworthy, with a 5-1 win over Richards Bay FC followed by a 1-1 draw with Durban City.
Chili, one of the key players in Milford's promotion to the Premiership from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, attributes the team's success to the faith and support of their coach and technical staff. He emphasizes that the team's unity and determination have been crucial in their ability to compete against top-tier opponents. The team's upcoming match against Lamontville Golden Arrows on October 17 at King Zwelithini Stadium in eMlaza, KwaZulu-Natal, presents another opportunity for them to build on their momentum.
The team's recent performances have exceeded expectations, with many pundits doubting their ability to make an impact in the top division. However, Chili is adamant that the team's hard work and dedication have paid off, allowing them to compete against more established teams. Their matches against Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, two of the top teams in the league, provided valuable lessons and helped the team gauge their level of preparedness for the Premiership.
Despite suffering defeats to Pirates and Sundowns, Chili believes that those matches served as a wake-up call, helping the team to identify areas for improvement and adjust their strategy. The team's three wins and three draws from their recent matches have boosted their confidence, and they are determined to maintain their momentum. Chili's own performances have been impressive, scoring his first Premiership goal in a 1-0 win over Siwelele FC.
Milford's coach and technical staff have played a significant role in the team's success, according to Chili. He praises their guidance and support, which have enabled the players to express themselves on the pitch. The team's unity and camaraderie have also been key factors in their success, with players working together to achieve their goals.
As the team prepares to face Lamontville Golden Arrows, Chili is confident that they can build on their recent performances and continue to make a positive impact in the Premiership. He emphasizes that the team's focus is on maintaining their momentum and achieving their goals, rather than becoming complacent or satisfied with their current position in the log.
