A health caravan organized in Tozeur, Tunisia, provided medical services to over 120 people in various specialties related to heart and blood vessel diseases. The caravan, which took place at the Hadi Jaaballah Regional Hospital in Tozeur, was initiated by the Tunisian Association for Heart and Blood Vessel Diseases and Surgery, in partnership with Obalia Recordati laboratories and under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and the Regional Health Administration in Tozeur.
The caravan included a comprehensive medical team in several specialties related to heart diseases, which spared many patients the trouble of traveling to university hospitals. The medical team provided clinics, and patients will be followed up by the same team that provided the clinics, either by directing them to university hospitals or by scheduling surgical operations. The Tozeur Regional Hospital has a cardiology specialty, but it does not have an operating room in this specialty.
The organization of this caravan aims to bring health services closer to citizens, especially specialties that are not available in the region. The upcoming period will witness the organization of a caravan in the specialty of urology, as well as another caravan at the end of the month in the specialty of ophthalmology. The caravan provided services, including echocardiography, especially for children, in light of the absence of pediatric cardiology in the region.
The Tunisian Association for Heart and Blood Vessel Diseases and Surgery played a significant role in organizing the caravan, with 35 specialized doctors from the public and private sectors, university professors, and young doctors providing medical clinics. The caravan also included a training workshop for paramedical staff, civil protection agents, and volunteers from the Tunisian Red Crescent on heart resuscitation methods in case of a heart attack.
The workshop aimed to focus on the youth category, as most sudden deaths are recorded among young people. Therefore, it is necessary to focus training workshops on this category. The caravan's activities come in line with the efforts to improve health services and provide them to citizens, especially in regions that suffer from a shortage of specialized medical services.
The Regional Health Director in Tozeur, Abdelrazak Lmouchi, stated that the caravan's organization is part of the efforts to bring health services closer to citizens and provide them with specialized medical care. He added that the patients will be followed up by the medical team that provided the clinics, and that the hospital will continue to provide health services to citizens.
The health caravan in Tozeur is part of a broader effort to improve health services in Tunisia, particularly in regions that face challenges in accessing specialized medical care. The caravan provided essential services to over 120 people and demonstrated the commitment of the Tunisian Association for Heart and Blood Vessel Diseases and Surgery to promoting heart health in the region.
