The Osun State Coordinator of MoneyPoint, Olufemi Olaniyan, has emphasised the importance of prioritising health through regular medical check-ups and exercise for journalists and business owners. He made this call during a health walk organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, as part of their 35th anniversary celebrations. Olaniyan described good health as essential for business sustainability, productivity, and economic growth.

Olaniyan noted that many business owners focus on increasing revenue and expanding their enterprises without paying adequate attention to their physical well-being. He stressed that an entrepreneur's health can significantly influence the continuity and growth of a business. According to him, financial success has little value if the owner cannot enjoy its benefits due to poor health. Olaniyan's remarks underscored the need for business owners to adopt healthier lifestyles.

The health walk was one of the activities lined up for the NUJ Osun State Council's week-long celebration of its 35th anniversary. Olaniyan disclosed that MoneyPoint had partnered with the NUJ on the initiative for more than four years, aiming to promote physical fitness among professionals and business operators. He encouraged entrepreneurs to incorporate regular exercise into their daily routines and make medical check-ups an essential part of their personal and professional lives.

The Chairman of the NUJ, Osun State Council, Comrade (Dr) Adeyemi Aboderin, also spoke at the event, urging journalists to pay greater attention to their health. He noted that the demands of daily assignments and the responsibility of keeping the public informed often leave media practitioners with little time for personal well-being. Aboderin observed that journalists frequently place professional responsibilities above their health despite the physical demands of their job.

Aboderin recommended that members sustain the exercise beyond the anniversary celebration, suggesting 10 to 15 minutes of walking before work and regular physical activity at least twice a week. He reflected on the council's 35-year journey, acknowledging the contributions of past leaders and members to the growth and sustainability of the union. The NUJ chairman's remarks highlighted the need for journalists to balance their professional and personal lives.

The Chairman of the Health Walk Committee, Comrade Olawumi Olaniyi, said the initiative was designed to encourage journalists to monitor their health more consistently. She advised members not to allow work to take precedence over their well-being, stressing that good health was essential to their careers, family responsibilities, and personal lives. Olaniyi's comments underscored the importance of prioritising health in the demanding field of journalism.

Other speakers at the event, including Pastor Segun Progress, who represented the APC candidate for Osogbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Ibrahim Kayode, emphasised the importance of regular exercise and fair reportage in the lead-up to the next election season. The health walk and related activities served as a reminder of the need for journalists and business owners to prioritise their health and well-being.
