The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has raised concerns over an alleged plot by some elements within the state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, to take over motor parks in the state. According to the party, this development could plunge Osun into another wave of violence if not addressed promptly.
In a statement released by the Accord chairman in the state, Victor Akande, the party claimed that credible reports from various motor parks implicated MC Oluomo as the mastermind of the plot, in collaboration with Asiri Eniba and certain APC elements. The party recalled that MC Oluomo had issued a new certificate of leadership to Asiri Eniba, despite the incumbent executive's tenure yet to lapse.
The Osun Accord Party alleged that MC Oluomo's actions were aimed at frustrating the state government's proposed Park Management System (PMS). The party noted that Governor Ademola Adeleke had taken a right decision by suspending NURTW operations across motor parks and announcing the creation of a state park management system. This move was to checkmate factional warfare following the recent killing of Olalekan Oyeyemi.
The party's statement also called on the Presidency and the Inspector General of Police to intervene and call MC Oluomo to order. They warned that the NURTW chief would be held accountable for any breakdown of law and order in the state. The Accord Party expressed support for the government's proposed PMS, which aims to bring peace to the motor parks.
The Osun Accord Party strongly frowned at the illegal and violent activities of Asiri Eniba, supported by MC Oluomo, describing them as remnants of pre-election violence in Osun state. The party urged that these activities should stop without further delay. They lauded the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, for his efforts to maintain peace.
The party charged other security agencies to enforce the directive of Governor Ademola Adeleke that all NURTW factions should vacate the motor parks. The Accord Party emphasized the need for all stakeholders to support the creation of a park management system, which the governor will announce in due course.
