Osei Adutwum Senior High School, founded by former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has benefited from the Divine Intervention Borehole project by SOTA International. The project was commissioned and handed over to the school last week by Dr. Kelli Ducloux, the founder and CEO of the American NGO. This development aims to enhance the lives of the school's students.
The siting of the borehole at the school was recommended by Madam Sutherland Adwoa Dawn, Executive Director of Bridge-To-Africa Connection (BTAC). Madam Dawn, who traces her roots to Jachie in the Ashanti Region, assured the school of her continued support for its development and that of Jachie. She expressed hope that the borehole would significantly improve sanitation and hygiene.
Dr. Kelli Ducloux was grateful to God for helping her fulfil her vision of constructing 50 wells across Africa. She reminded the students of their role and responsibility to impact the lives of others after school and further help the school grow. The event was attended by notable figures, including Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, Chief of Jachie.
The Headmaster, Mr. Kenneth Adu Poku, expressed appreciation to SOTA International and BTAC for providing water for the school's 644 female students. However, he appealed for support in constructing a 12-seater place of convenience for the Girls' dormitory. The Girls' Prefect, Miss Rose Abingo, also expressed gratitude to the benefactor for giving them water and, by extension, life.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by various stakeholders, including Mr. Charles Adu Gyamfi, PTA chairman; Desmond Osei Tutu, Assistant Headmaster (Academics); and other school administrators. SOTA International has also funded and commissioned a GHc48,000 borehole project for the Sawua D/A 2 Primary School.
In addition to the borehole project, SOTA International donated GHC6,000 to the head teacher of Sawua D/A 2 Primary School for the purchase of school uniforms for distribution to needy pupils. The chief of Sawua, Nana Kwaku Amankwaa Sarkodie, expressed appreciation for Dr. Kelli Ducloux's gesture and support.
The SMC/PTA chairman, Frederick Akwasi Peprah, and the School Improvement and Support officer (SISO) of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Alex Boateng, pledged to ensure the proper maintenance of the mechanised borehole donated by SOTA International. Key stakeholders have shown commitment to sustaining the project's impact.
