The traditional ruler of Orile-Owu in Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Daud Akinfalabi Lagbedu, has called on the Osun State and federal governments to provide basic amenities in his community. Oba Akinfalabi made the call as part of the activities marking his 10th coronation anniversary and the celebration of the town's annual Anlugbua Festival on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Oba Akinfalabi specifically requested that the federal and state governments tar the roads from Apomu to Orile-Owu linking Araromi Owu to Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State. He also called for the rehabilitation of the Gbongan – Orile-Owu Road, saying this will boost agricultural activities in the community and contribute to the state's and country's economy.
The monarch highlighted that Orile-Owu is blessed with human and natural resources, making it an ideal location for agricultural and other investments. He urged sons and daughters of Owu at home and in the diaspora to remember their ancestral home and lend their support to the community's development.
Oba Akinfalabi expressed gratitude to his chiefs and Owu sons and daughters for their support in renovating the Orile-Owu palace, constructing a town hall, and building the Divisional Police Headquarters. He also thanked those who attended his 10th anniversary celebration and the Anlugbua cultural festival.
The newly installed Babalaje of Orile-owu, Chief Gbenga Akinware, and the new Iyalaje chief, Mrs Olasiji Adeola, along with other notable individuals in the town, expressed their appreciation to Oba Akinfalabi and those who attended the celebrations. They prayed for continued blessings and good fortune in their various homes.
Oba Akinfalabi's call for assistance with infrastructure development and agricultural activities underscores the challenges faced by many rural communities in Nigeria. The Orile-Owu monarch's efforts to engage his community and appeal for support from governments and the diaspora reflect the complexities of community development in the country.
