Orezone Bomboré SA has initiated the second phase of its Tinbo program, aimed at providing young talents with professional experience in the mining sector. The program, which started on September 28, 2026, will benefit 34 young individuals. This second edition follows a successful first phase that saw 25 young people gain their first experience in the mining industry. The Tinbo program seeks to bridge the gap between university education and professional realities.
The Tinbo 2 program will run for 18 months, comprising six months of internship and 12 months of apprenticeship within Orezone Bomboré SA. The program's objective is to enable beneficiaries to develop their skills, acquire practical experience, and understand the requirements of the professional world, particularly in the mining sector. The program was launched in the presence of representatives from the University of Joseph-Ki-Zerbo, the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Quarries, and Orezone Bomboré SA.
According to Frédéric Toé, the Director General of Orezone Bomboré SA, the Tinbo program is part of the company's commitment to youth development. He emphasized the importance of training and professional preparation, especially in the mining sector, which requires national skills. Toé highlighted that the program aims to contribute to forming a new generation of qualified professionals capable of meeting the industry's needs and participating in the country's development.
The first phase of the Tinbo program saw 25 young individuals recruited, with 24 completing the program. One beneficiary secured a job opportunity in another mine, while another failed to pass the final exams. For the second phase, the number of beneficiaries has increased to 34. The program's philosophy is centered on providing young talents with an opportunity to gain practical experience and develop their skills in the mining sector.
Dorcas Soulama, a beneficiary of the first edition of the Tinbo program, shared her experience. She was part of the health and safety department and gained concrete knowledge of the different dimensions of health and safety at work. Her experience allowed her to confront the realities of a professional environment she was not familiar with previously. Soulama's testimony also highlighted the importance of women in the mining industry, dispelling the myth that mining is a male-dominated field.
The Tinbo program is designed to provide young talents with a comprehensive understanding of the mining sector. Beneficiaries will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, gain practical skills, and develop a deeper understanding of the industry. The program's impact is expected to be significant, contributing to the development of a skilled workforce in the mining sector.
Orezone Bomboré SA's commitment to youth development through the Tinbo program is a significant step towards addressing the skills gap in the mining sector. The program's success will be measured by the number of beneficiaries who secure employment in the industry after completing the program. With the second phase of the Tinbo program underway, Orezone Bomboré SA is poised to make a positive impact on the lives of young talents in Burkina Faso.
