Opel has unveiled the STX Concept, an electric estate car that previews the brand's future models, at the Paris Motor Show, which runs from October 12 to 18. The STX Concept, short for Sports Tourer eXperimental, is a show car that links to Opel's Sports Tourer models, such as the latest Astra Sports Tourer. The concept features a new Vizor face, active aerodynamics, and all-wheel drive.
The Opel Vizor on the STX Concept is taller and more prominent than on previous models, with vertical slanting lamellas forming the outer edges of the lighting signature. The rear of the car drops steeply, freeing up extra cargo space, and features slim illuminated compass axes and an illuminated OPEL wordmark. The car also has glass light strips running from the C-pillars into the roof and illuminated STX lettering on the sides.
The STX Concept has a low silhouette, short overhangs, and flared wheel arches, designed for efficiency and stability at high speeds. The car features three-section alloys with 285/35 R22 Goodyear tyres and an active aerodynamic system that adapts to driving conditions. At high speeds, blue diffusers extend from under the rear, and vertical bumper elements behind the wheels move outwards to reduce drag.
The STX Concept uses an electric architecture with all-wheel drive and has a top speed of over 200 km/h. The car features cameras instead of conventional wing mirrors and is finished in silver and blue. The interior design plans to develop the 'Painting with Light' theme, with immersive lighting and lightweight seats.
The STX Concept carries elements that will appear on future Opel models, according to CEO Florian Huettl. The brand's estate history dates back to the 1953 Olympia Rekord Caravan. Huettl, along with Rebecca Reinermann and Mark Adams, will present the concept at stand A42 in hall 4 on Monday, October 12, at 11.00 CEST.
Alongside the STX Concept, Opel will also give the GSE 27FE Formula E racing car its world premiere in Paris, while the Corsa GSE hot hatch, now on sale, makes its exhibition debut. The concept showcases characteristic features that will be found in future Opel models.
The Opel STX Concept is a significant preview of the brand's future electric estate cars, featuring advanced technology and design elements. The concept's design and features will likely influence future Opel models, as the brand continues to develop its electric vehicle offerings.
