A recent report by nPerf, a mobile network performance measurement firm, has ranked Ooredoo as the top provider in Tunisia for both 4G and 5G coverage. The report, which analyzed data collected between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026, found that Ooredoo achieved a 4G coverage score of 92.43%. This score is based on the provider's geographical coverage and population coverage while in motion.
Ooredoo's 4G coverage score surpassed that of Orange Tunisie, which scored 91.35%, and Tunisie Telecom, which scored 91.21%. In terms of geographical coverage, Ooredoo achieved 87.54%, while its population coverage reached 97.32%. Comparatively, Orange Tunisie had geographical coverage of 86.24% and population coverage of 96.46%, while Tunisie Telecom had 85.02% and 97.39%, respectively.
The report also evaluated the 5G coverage of the three providers. Ooredoo emerged as the leader with a 5G coverage score of 57.44%, surpassing Orange Tunisie's score of 57.16% and Tunisie Telecom's score of 53.86%. Ooredoo's 5G geographical coverage was 40.67%, and its population coverage was 74.21%. Orange Tunisie had 41.33% geographical coverage and 72.99% population coverage, while Tunisie Telecom had 34.36% and 73.37%, respectively.
Although Ooredoo leads in national 4G and 5G coverage, regional results reveal a more nuanced picture. In certain regions, Orange Tunisie and Tunisie Telecom outperform Ooredoo in specific coverage indicators. For instance, in the Centre-Est region, Ooredoo scored 96.17% in 4G coverage, ahead of Orange Tunisie at 95.56% and Tunisie Telecom at 94.88%. However, in the Grand Tunis area, Orange Tunisie took the lead with 97.99%, followed by Ooredoo at 97.75% and Tunisie Telecom at 97.05%.
The 5G coverage landscape also varies across regions. In the Grand Tunis area, Orange Tunisie achieved 62.85%, while Ooredoo scored 61.16% and Tunisie Telecom scored 57.56%. These regional disparities highlight that users' coverage experiences can differ significantly depending on their location.
The nPerf report is based on real-world measurements collected from users' devices, providing a more accurate representation of mobile network coverage. The data is gathered through the nPerf application on Android devices, which records and geolocates measurements to approximately 20 meters. This approach considers both the presence and absence of a signal, offering a comprehensive view of the providers' coverage.
The report also notes that 5G coverage still lags behind 4G coverage in Tunisia. While the three providers have achieved scores above 91% in 4G coverage, their 5G scores range from 53.86% to 57.44%. The report emphasizes that coverage alone is not a definitive measure of network quality or speed, and these figures should be considered alongside data on network speeds and performance.
