A violent clash between youths in Rahamanu Village, under Aujara District, Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State, has left one person dead and another seriously injured. The incident occurred late on Wednesday night, sending shockwaves through the Fulani settlement. Residents reported hearing shouting from the centre of the village around 11 pm, which prompted them to rush to the scene. The fight had already resulted in two youths bleeding seriously.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with residents rushing to the scene to find some youths fighting seriously. Audu Falalu, a resident who spoke via telephone interview, recounted what he saw. He stated that the community was thrown into confusion and panic, with residents quickly responding to the situation. The swift response helped prevent further bloodshed.
The community quickly alerted security operatives to prevent further violence. Haruna Adamu, another resident, said the community immediately called the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel in Aujara. The NSCDC responded quickly, which helped to prevent more people from being killed. The injured victims were rushed to the health centre by security personnel and good Samaritans.
The NSCDC confirmed the incident, stating that they received a distress call over the clash. According to ASC Badaruddeen Tijjani, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC Jigawa State Command, the command received a distress call on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026, at about 2330 hours. Personnel were immediately mobilised to the area upon receipt of the distress call.
Two persons were found to have sustained serious injuries during the fight and were subsequently taken to the Primary Health Centre, Aujara, for medical attention. Tijjani stated that one of the victims, Umar Abdullahi, aged 20, of Rahamanu Fulani Settlement, unfortunately died while on admission at the health facility. The second victim, Sule Adamu, aged 19, of the same address, is currently responding to treatment.
The NSCDC has commenced an investigation into the incident to establish the circumstances surrounding the fight and identify all persons involved. Two suspects have been arrested by Police personnel attached to Aujara Division in connection with the incident for further investigation and possible prosecution. The NSCDC spokesman assured that the command would keep the public informed as the investigation progresses.
